E D D Y (EDit DirectorY)
----------==---=-------=--
Copyright (C) 1987 thru 1996
This information is provided for BBS SYSOPs, Shareware Distributors,
Disk Vendors, User Groups and others who may wish to distribute EDDY.
It contains the following information:
1. Introduction
2. Limited Distribution License
3. BBS Information
4. Disk Set Distribution
5. Subscription Distribution
6. Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP) Associate Membership
1. Introduction
---------------
The complete EDDY package is defined as containing all the material
listed in the EDDYREAD.ME text file. If any files listed in the
EDDYREAD.ME text file, or the EDDYREAD.ME file itself, are missing, then
the package is not complete and distribution is forbidden.
The only exception is the VENDINFO.DIZ file, which MAY be included, but
is NOT required. In case of any conflict of terms, wording, meaning or
possible differing interpretations between the contents of VENDINFO.DIZ
and the contents of other files in the EDDY package, those other files
are the authoritative version, and they shall prevail in case of dispute.
All references to EDDY in this file refer to the complete EDDY package.
All rights not expressly granted here are reserved to the author:

2. Limited Distribution License
-------------------------------
As the exclusive copyright holder for EDDY, John Scofield authorizes
distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions:
BBSs and ASP Approved Vendor members in good standing are hereby given
permission to distribute EDDY. Non-ASP member vendors must request
permission prior to distributing this package.
The EDDY package -- including all related program and documentation
files -- CANNOT be modified in any way and MUST be distributed as a
complete package, with the following specific exceptions:
a. Many BBSs customarily add a small text file (advertisement)
to each archived file. This text file describes the BBS and
tells people that the file was downloaded from that particular
BBS. Other BBSs add a small one-line message with their BBS
name and phone number into the compressed file, which will
display when the file is uncompressed. Either of these methods
of mentioning your BBS are acceptable and may be used, provided
the package is otherwise unmodified and complete.
b. Small additions to the package, such as the introductory or
installation batch files used by many shareware disk vendors,
are acceptable.
c. The package may contain a "VENDINFO.DIZ" file. That file is
included solely to comply with the requirements of some vendors
(e.g., certain CD-ROM producers), and as a convenience for BBSs
using software that is built to accommodate it. It has no
useful purpose for most users, contains no information that is
not provided here or elsewhere in EDDY's documentation, and may
be deleted if desired.
The EDDY package cannot be "rented" or "leased" to others.
You may not list any of our products in advertisements, catalogs, or
other literature which describes our products as "FREE" or "PUBLIC
DOMAIN" software. Shareware is "Try-Before-You-Buy" software; it is NOT
free, and it IS copyrighted. It is most certainly NOT public domain.
No price or other compensation may be charged for EDDY. A reasonable
fee may be charged to cover the actual costs of the distribution media,
shipping and handling.
3. BBS Information
------------------
a. File Name
For consistency and to help users locate the files, please use the file
name "EDDYnn.ZIP", where "nn" is the current version identifier; e.g.,
"EDDY8D.ZIP".
If the program is compressed using some other file compression method,
then please use the name "EDDYnn" with the appropriate extension (LZH,
ARC, PAK, ZOO, etc.).
b. Category
When posting to a particular file area, please use an area named
similarly to one of the following, in order of preference:
HARD DISK UTILITIES
DIRECTORY UTILITIES
DISK UTILITIES
DOS SHELLS
FILE UTILITIES
DOS UTILITIES
c. Description
For those BBSs that can make use of it, the FILE_ID.DIZ file is included
in the distribution package to provide a description for posting. If
you don't use that file, please use one of the following...
1. Long Caption (ten 45-byte lines):
EDDY v.8d <ASP> "EDit DirectorY"- Do ANYTHING
u want to disks/files, + lots u never thought
of & won't find elsewhere! DOS shell & File
Manager-like tasks REALLY easy! Seldom-needed
stuff (sector edit, RAM viewing, image copy)
can be LIFESAVERS! Replaces LOTS of common,
but less-capable utilities. A "disk jockey's
delight"! Reviews say: clean, easy to use,
well-written * interface elegant * docs
excellent * Norton-like quality
2. Medium Caption (five 45-byte lines):
EDDY v.8d <ASP> "EDit DirectorY"- Do ANYTHING
u want to disks/files, + lots u never thought
of, won't find elsewhere! Common tasks REALLY
easy! Seldom-needed stuff (sector edit, RAM
viewing, image copy, etc) can be LIFESAVERS!
3. Short Caption (two 45-byte lines):
EDDY v.8d <ASP>-Do ANYTHING with files, disks
and dir's! Replaces many other utilities.
4. One-liner:
Does ANYTHING with disks/directories/files!
d. Keywords
If posting to a BBS or online service (such as CompuServe) that
associates keywords with its files, please use the following keywords:
DISK DIRECTORY FILE SECTOR EDITOR SHELL VIEWER RECOVERY UTILITY MANAGER
4. Disk Set Distribution
------------------------
ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing who wish to
distribute EDDY as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or
a CD-ROM package) may do so if all the other restrictions are met.
Others (non-ASP Vendor Members) who wish to distribute EDDY as part of a
collection must obtain permission from the author prior to beginning
such a distribution.
If you wish to add any of our programs to a CD-ROM or other collection,
please check the release date of the version you have. If the version
is over six (6) months old then please contact the author to ensure that
you have the most current version.
5. Subscription Distribution
----------------------------
If you would like to distribute the EDDY package as a Disk-of-the-Month,
or as part of a subscription or monthly service, then the following
restrictions apply:
ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing are hereby given
permission to distribute the EDDY package under the Disk-of-the-Month
style of distribution.
